Summary of Page.ly’s Lean Startup Post

The take away lessons from Page.ly’s lean startup post

  • A company is a set of systems
  • Adding variables (like employees, capital, etc) make it more complex
  • Complex systems take more resources to manage
  • Reduce complexity
  • Automate everything
  • A company is a set of systems (repeat)
  • Earn revenue on user #1
  • Raising capital is an inefficient use of time
  • Zero dollar marketing (i.e. word of mouth)
  • Act as if you’ll never hire anyone, ever
  • Spend the money on quality (not on the latest must haves)
  • Be the best, and price accordingly
  • Expect customers to learn (Self-sufficient customers require less support resources, and are happier customers)
  • Focus and Discipline
  • Realize that you don’t have time to pursue all ideas (yet), and that doing so can be a distraction to your business
